Merchant of Venice Cafe
Last weekend, my husband and I went to the Merchant of Venice Café in Orenco Station for dinner. As we walked in out of the cold, we were immediately hit with the delicious smells of the kitchen: tomatoes, basil, fresh bread, and garlic! After we were seated, we began to admire the beautiful local art which is hung throughout the dining room. There is also an amazing mural of Venice on the far wall. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which was a surprising plus because the kitchen is open to this part of the dining room. I am pretty sure that I actually saw my dinner being cooked! While looking over the menu, our server brought fresh bread along with oil and vinegar for dipping. The fresh bread was still warm from the oven! After we looked over the menu, I decided on the Figaro Pizza and my husband chose the Barber Pizza. As we waited for our meal, I excused myself and peeked into the bar. It looked like a great place to meet up with friends for a cocktail and dinner. The bar included great bar stools, pub tables, an extensive bar, and great outdoor seating is available during the warmer seasons. In fact, I plan on meeting up with friends in the Merchant of Venice bar next weekend.
The rest of the evening was excellent. After a short wait at our table, our Pizza’s had arrived. My Pizza, the Figaro, which includes three cheeses with fresh tomatoes, basil, roasted garlic and diced tomatoes, was delicious! I am savoring the thought right now! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Barber Pizza as well, which included pepperoni, salami, caramelized onions, black olives and mozzarella. The location of The Merchant of Venice Café is excellent for an outing any night of the week. Parking is always convenient, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing! I would recommend The Merchant of Venice Café to anyone who enjoys good food and a warm atmosphere!
