A Word from Renaissance Wines… May 2008

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Once again, we present a word from our friends at Renaissance Wines, in the May exerpt from “Uncorked”…

“We love finding wines under $12 that blow us away. Unfortunately, these finds are rare indeed, but the Vila Tinto Fundacion out of Mendoza, definitely fits the profile. A blend of Argentina’s distinguished varietals – Bonarda, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this tender beauty is young and vivacious – a perfect summer red that pairs harmoniously with most meat dishes, and even stands up to grilled veggies and salmon. And the best part is, it’s only $7.85 a bottle! Try it today, you won’t be disappointed.”

Orenco Agrees- Green Is Cool!

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Orenco Station Manor Suites is a big fan of, well, Earth! We feel that protecting our resources is of upmost importance and take every possible step we can to preserve our surroundings.

Some of the efforts we make to keep things green are, of course, recycing absolutely each and every possible thing we can! We also have implemented using low energy, high efficiency washers and dryers in all laundry facilities and use low-impact organic laundry detergents.

We look to our guests to help us conserve water by urging them to reuse towels as often as possible and are eager to hear any suggestions our past and future guests may have for our “Green Team”.

Orenco Station as a community was built on the premise of conservation. Read this article from the National Resources Defense Council to find out more: http://www.nrdc.org/cities/smartGrowth/solve/orenco.asp

Cheers!

Orenco Station Manor Suites Offers New Healthy Amenities!

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

In an effort to cater to the growing number of business travelers and vacationers who take their health seriously, Orenco Station Manor Suites has added two new amenities: The Healthy Start Breakfast and day passes to LA Fitness, one of the area’s premier fitness clubs.

Starting at 6am each day, the coffee in each of the two business centers is fresh and ready to go. Guests can also grab a fresh piece of fruit, a selection of travel-friendly fruit cups, or a breakfast bar, all at no additional charge.

Three cheers for LA Fitness who has been most helpful in facilitating the new negotiated free daily passes for Orenco Manor travellers. Guests simply grab a form that can be found in the guest book in each suite, fill out the appropriate fields and take it with them to the gym. It’s really that easy.

Of course, the same No Smoking policy applies to all Orenco Manor’s suites.

Orenco In the News: The Oregonian, 1998

Orenco Station Main Street

“Innovative development blends light rail access, small lots with ‘community heartbeat’”
The Oregonian, January 4, 1998

Automobiles are relegated to garages in back of the new homes at Orenco Station, and that’s more than just a design consideration. In this pedestrian-friendly community north of Hillsboro, cars are not essential for most residents. The new Orenco light rail station is just a couple of blocks away along tree-lined streets. Once the project is completed, most all of the amenities residents need will be within walking distance, including coffee shops, sidewalk cafes and a major grocery store….

The 190-acre project is just the sort of project Metro envisioned for land along the new Westside light rail line, said Mike Burton, Metro’s executive director. Despite high densities (about 18 units per acre), the homes are well-designed and offer a sense of privacy lacking in many homes on much larger lots, he said. The mix of apartments, townhomes and single-family homes, amenities such as parks and a swimming pool, the town center commercial area and an adjacent larger commercial development contribute to a sense of community, rather than being “just a bunch of houses,” said Burton.

“It’s a great project,” said Burton. “I think they’ve achieved a heck of a goal….”

A Word from Renaissance Wines… April 2008

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Once again, we present a word from our friends at Renaissance Wines, in the April exerpt from “Uncorked”…

“Last week when the weather warmed the air with spices for one glorious day, I decided to celebrate the elusive sun by treating myself to a bottle of Clos des Papes blanc and fresh grilled catfish. Yes, I know this was a bit of a splurge, but the rain had been wearing me down, and I needed a little pick me up.

There are rare moments in life where beauty unfolds itself in such a way that the clouds open up and the “Alajuela” chorus booms from above - this definitely was one of those moments. As the wine touched my palate, a teasingly soft, pear-like texture gently melted into my mouth, lingering on my senses. The wine was fleshy, ripe and alive. Medium bodied and luscious, this gem parades a line up of citrus summer fruits, infused with intoxicating honeysuckle and orange peel. I was in heaven.

Clos des Papes is arguably one of the most superb producers of Chateauneuf du Pape. This dazzling white is truly a work of art, composed by none other than the famed Paul Avril, who has been crafting wines from Clos des Papes for several decades. My palate was drenched in this sinfully delicious masterpiece for one glorious afternoon, as I explored her beauty, and feasted on the “richest of fairs”. It was everything I never knew, I always wanted.

Now that is what I call an afternoon in the sun. I highly recommend it.”

A word from Renaissance Wines….

One of Orenco’s best little hideaways is Renaissance Wines, which hosts a variety of wine tastings and a fantastic update online each month…. here’s your dose of “Uncorked” for March!

“The shop seems to get busier every night! We are pleased that many of you have made Renaissance your evening hang out, and we are grateful for the relationships we are making along the way.

As the wine bar portion of the business grows, we are continually searching for top-notch, interesting, and affordable wines to make your wine experience here more pleasurable.

Recently, a group of regulars opened up a bottle of the 2006 Pascual Toso Malbec to enjoy at the shop. We were all amazed at the bold beauty brought forth through flavors of smoky plumb, boysenberry, and spiced clove. This wine seemed to be the perfect compliment to the Hercules pizza from Garlic Jim’s, and the friendly game of Cribbage enjoyed by everyone hanging around the shop (we do occasionally keep it simple).

At only $12.25 a bottle, we understand why Wine Enthusiasts named this Malbec the #1 Best Buy of 2007! In fact, we liked the wine so much that we decided to feature it in this week’s tasting of South American terrior. Thank you to everyone who made the night such a memorable one. And for all of you who were not here, be reminded of how much fun you miss when you’re away!”

Orenco Station Manor Suites Continues To Be #1 Hotel in Hillsboro

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

The Orenco Station Manor Suites is rated #1 out of 15 Hillsboro Hotels…again. Or shall we say, still. Not only does the Boutique Inn which lies in the heart of Orenco Station have the best user reviews of all hotels in the area, but it has had the same rating since 6 months after its grand opening.

TripAdvisor.com is very likely the most respected name in the hospitality industry when it comes to legitimate, honest hotel reviews. Their review entry process is quite rigid, ensuring that reviews are not fraudulent, but a realistic gauge of hotel performance.

To give you a point of reference, other hotels that have received this prestigious rating include the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as the Soho Hotel in London, England. To give you an idea of what it takes to be #1, read some of the revaiews that have contributed to the Manor’s success:

• “When I walked in, it was like heaven. Nice, quiet, clean, soft bedding, comfortable seating, plush robe and even a towel warmer…a home away from home. Since I was working out of the room, I was pleased to find wireless internet access and a perfect place to set up my laptop. Beyond the pleasures of the room, we were pleased with the easy access to Starbuck’s and three great restaurants only a block away! (By the way, we recommend all three, but especially enjoyed the Indian restaurant.)
If we ever find ourselves in Hillsboro again, there will be no question about where we stay…definitely Orenco Station Manor House.”
Susan Kesterson

• As a frequent business traveler, I can honestly say that this hotel is my favorite. This is not your typical hotel, it is a very small property (6 rooms) , and is located in a row of walk-up townhouses in Orenco Station - an award winning planned community. The location is calm and peaceful, the property is spotless, the rooms are large and the amenities (flat screen t.v., current DVD selection in the room, Bose Wave stereo, feather top bed, and garden patio, small fridge, coffee maker, bathrobe, warm towel rack and a very comfortable recliner) were tops. The hotel is within walking distance of a MAX stop, three restaurants, shops, Starbucks and a great grocery store! It was peaceful, quiet, comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
Eric Middleton, Executive Traveler

• I felt the best part was the attention to details, the quality of offerings, and the convenience of walking distance to the neighborhood establishments.”
Susan DeGallerybeal
As you can see, the Orenco Station Manor Suites are one of Hillsboro’s Best Kept Secrets. Reading a review, no matter how fabulous, is one thing. Finding out for yourself is completely another. Relaxation, luxury and comfort await. For more information, log on to www.orencomanor.com.

Orenco Station Manor Suites Gets Rave Reviews from Business & Leisure Travelers Alike

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

While the age of technology brings new avenues of marketing, both web based and otherwise, there is one form of advertisement that surpasses all others: word of mouth. The Orenco Station Manor Suites remains technologically advanced, but has cornered the market on positive feedback.

Since it’s inception in the fall of 2005, the Orenco Station Manor Suites has grown in both size and popularity. Now featuring eight artfully decorated Suites, including one Luxury Studio, two common area business centers and a new website in the works. Here’s what guests of the Orenco Station Manor Suites have to say:

  • “I travel a lot and I must tell you your rooms ROCK! Watching the flat screen TV and listening to my music on the iPod stereo, then slipping into the crisp linens on your oh-so-comfortable bed really made me feel like I had a little bit of home on the road!” – Mike M., Director, Harvard University
  • “The proprietors have regularly been sending post-stay web surveys and it is clear they listen to their customers. As a result of this customer’s input they have a fast and secure WiFi network that is obviously fronting a quality broadband connection. … If you appreciate attention to detail, comfortable surroundings, a sound business traveler orientation, and like the B&B style, you can’t do better than this.” – Mike R., Intel

“My family and I needed an extended stay location and ended up renting three of the units to combine into our ‘home-away-from-home’ for our month-long stay. The furnishings and linens are outstanding, on par with upscale boutique hotels, and the small, intimate location is perfect for the business traveler seeking refuge from the traditional hotel stay.” – Kristin M.

“We had an absolutely fabulous stay. We were not expecting such great hospitality, and the room was beyond our expectations! Warm comfortable bed, beautiful linens, large flat screen TV and everything else you would expect from a five star property at a great price. I plan to return and would highly recommend it if you are heading to that area.” – Alison C.
